The feud between Prince William and Meghan Markle has been laid bare in an eye-opening piece of video footage, according to a royal expert, who highlighted the “body language”
A Royal expert has suggested that a revealing video clip has provided insights into the rift between Prince William and Meghan Markle.
Richard Eden, who is the Daily Mail’s authority on all things regal, dissected the footage during an episode of ‘Reading the Royals’ on YouTube.
The video in question captures the Royal Family as they exit the church on Christmas Day in 2018 at Sandringham.
The expert pointed out the “body language” evident in the video, which he claims caught the attention of Royal enthusiasts back then, seemingly showing William giving Meghan the cold shoulder.
He remarked: “By Christmas 2018, the split was terminal and the footage we’re about to see really did make royal watchers sit up and take notice.
“Look at the body language as they’re leaving church on Christmas Day in Sandringham. Meghan looks as if she wants to talk to Prince William, but he sort of turns away awkwardly and fiddles with his scarf.”
He added: “Looks like he just doesn’t want to speak to Meghan at all and then at that point, it seems Catherine intervenes. You know, as we’ve seen so often with her, she seems to be sort of the peacemaker.”
“And trying to make a bit of small talk, knowing full well that the cameras are all on them.”
Despite the apparent tension captured on video, Richard noted that the press was awash with images depicting “an apparently united front” between William and Catherine and Harry and Meghan, reports the Express.
Since their decision to step back from Royal duties in 2020 and relocate to the US, Harry and Meghan have been at the centre of controversy. This has been fuelled by a series of interviews in which they shared private family information.
In 2023, Prince Harry released a memoir where he accused his brother of assault. Further controversy was stirred when the Sussexes made allegations of racism and bullying against the Royal family.
However, reports this month suggest that Harry is allegedly puzzled as to why the feud with his brother hasn’t yet been resolved. A source revealed to Heat magazine that the Duke believed they would have “found a way to reconcile” by now.
Royal author Tom Quinn, however, has suggested that there’s little hope for Harry and William’s relationship following the assault allegations. He also stated that Harry “still expects William to make the first move”, according to the Mirror.
Quinn further explained that Harry “won’t take the lead” and William is “annoyed” with his brother’s “complaints and attacks”. The Prince of Wales has no intention of extending a hand “in case it gets bitten off”, he added.
