Zara McDermott Champions Pete Wicks’s Strictly Come Dancing Journey, Awaiting the Moment He’s Dubbed ‘Di Prima 2.0’

Strictly Come Dancing star Zara McDermott has issued a five-word response to her pal Pete Wicks signing up for this year’s series in amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the show.

Zara McDermott has broken her silence on this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing after her former pro dance partner Graziano di Prima was axed from the BBC show for gross misconduct.

Taking to Instagram this morning, the former Love Island star shared a picture of the Strictly Come Dancing logo on her stories and tagged The Only Way is Essex alumni Pete in a message.

The 27-year-old brunette beauty penned: “I’ve never been so excited. Love you, Pete Wicks.”

The news of Pete’s signing as the eighth star to take part in this year’s Strictly was announced on the Kiss FM Breakfast Show this morning.

Pete admitted during an interview about the news: “Dancing live in front of the nation every Saturday? Absolutely terrifying.

“But anyone who knows me knows I love a challenge and trying new things, so I’m genuinely looking forward to getting stuck in.”

Pete is close friends with Zara and her boyfriend Sam Thompson, and the two men have a podcast together and often make social media videos.

Sam, who won last year’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! is reportedly thrilled about Pete’s big news – even getting emotional over the signing.

Pete said on KISS FM: “Sam already knows, I did tell Sam and Sam cried.

“I am not even joking – he screamed and jumped up and down and cried and planned that every Saturday he will be at the show.

“He is making T-shirts – the guy really needs to get a life.

“He’s my number one fan in life, he is kind of like Martha from Baby Reindeer, that is our relationship.”

Pete added to hosts Jordan Banjo and Perri Kiely: “It is a mixture of excited and absolutely petrified, genuinely petrified.”

It comes weeks after Italian dancer Graziano was removed from the show following accusations of kicking Zara during rehearsals.

He admitted to kicking her but denied any claims of spitting at her.
