Rapper Nelly has been arrested after allegedly being in possession of drugs, according to reports.

The Hot In Herre singer was said to have been arrested at around 4.45am on Wednesday morning in the St Louis area, according to an arrest report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Reports say the star was taken into custody. It’s claimed four ecstasy pills had been discovered in his vehicle. Nelly – whose real name is Cornell Haynes Jr – is said to have been released later in the day.

He was allegedly arrested by the Missouri State Highway Patrol after he was pulled over and authorities were said to have found the pills.

According to Fox 2 Now, the rapper was also driving without any car insurance. Nelly also had a failure to appear warrant from 2018 from Maryland Heights, which is a suburb outside St Louis where the rapper hails from.

In the mugshot of the 49-year-old music star, his eyes appeared bloodshot as he stared down the camera lens. He was wearing a black hoodie at the time of his mugshot being taken. At the time of writing, it wasn’t clear whether the musician would have to appear in court over the offence.

The arrest comes shortly after singer Ashanti announced she was pregnant with her and Nelly’s first child together. The singer also revealed the couple were engaged. The pair first dated for a decade from 2003 to 2013. However, they were spotted back together last year and have since grown closer.
